Keeping up with the next generation

October 7th, 2009

Telecommunications has changed beyond all recognition in the last few years. The latest generation of telecommunications networks will bring even greater changes with the introduction of innovative multimedia services.

We at PTT understand the importance of keeping up-to-date with the technologies that drive these next generation networks yet appreciate that its not easy to find training that is up-to-date, easy to access and affordable.

So we have come up with a solution: study our brand new “Advanced IP networks” course along with two others that together provide a unique and comprehensive treatment of IP-based next generation networks at a reduced cost.

Exploration of the Internet

July 10th, 2009

In just a few years, the Internet has completely altered the way we communicate in our business lives and socially.

The technologies that underpin the Internet are now also being adopted by many telecommunications providers to carry the traffic generated by telephone, television and business communication services as well.

PTT’s “IP networks” e-learning course has been completely rebuilt to include the latest information about the technologies that drive the Internet and IP networks in general.

The new release of this online course provides the ideal introduction to the Internet suite of protocols as well as the structure of the Internet and the organisations involved in its operation.

New 4G/LTE mobile course

April 30th, 2009

Advances in telecommunications in the last two or three decades have changed the way we play and work and, arguably, of all the telecoms services, mobile communications has had the biggest influence on people’s lives around the world. From farmers in remote areas of Africa checking commodity prices to company executives reading their emails while out of the office, we all increasingly depend on wireless access to telecom services.

The implementation of Third Generation (3G) mobile services has addressed in part the demand for more mobile bandwidth. However, standards development has not stopped there. 4G systems promise the same multimedia experience while on the move as is available from a fixed broadband connection. In fact, 4G is seen by many as the way of eliminating the digital divide in areas with poor access to the Internet.

The first implementations of 4G based on the Long Term Evolution (LTE) standards have already been announced in Scandinavia with others expected imminently in other parts of the world.

As part of PTT’s commitment to provide up-to-date training, PTT has recently released its latest e‑learning course “4G and LTE mobile systems” which provides an in-depth treatment of technical and service aspects of 4G and LTE.
