What you will learn:

You'll study how VoIP call control is separated from media transport and how legacy SS7 signalling is transported over IP networks to interconnect VoIP infrastructure with the existing PSTN. You'll also learn how critical PSTN signalling information is preserved as calls cross network boundaries. You will discover how the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) provides call control and how PSTN emulation services use the IMS to maintain legacy telephony capabilities.

Course prerequisites:

An understanding of the principles and operation of SIP-based Voice over IP systems. It is recommended that the PTT online course "Voice over IP" is studied before attempting this course.

Delivery platform requirements:
To access the course, a computer/tablet running a browser such as Chrome, Safari, Edge etc. is required. The device should have an active Internet connection and a screen resolution of at least 1024x768.
